My Current VPS Host Review (KnownHost)
Introduction:
I was originally had a VPS with Zone.net and was very happy with them and their service but unfortunately the company seemed to be having some financial problems and after a 20+hour downtime session I decided to look around for a place to move. After a fair amount of research I decided to go with KnownHost. I emailed them and told them I was a Zone.net refugee and they offered me a refugee offer of 50% off my first two months and then a 10% lifetime discount. I decided to take them off on the offer.
I signed up the same day and when my Zone.net server was back online I sent a support ticket for them to move all of my accounts across and they did it within a few hours.
The package I went for was the VPSXL-Ca package which consists of:
320 MB Guaranteed RAM Burstable to 1 GB
20GB Disk space
550GB Bandwidth
2ips + 4 more
cPanel+WHM
Performance:
Performance wise this VPS has been the best one I have ever had. I host about 10 different websites on this server which the most popular being my Arcade website. It gets around 80,000 UV a month and about 400,000 page views so it’s a medium sized site which this VPS seems to have no problem running. I normally use between 300 and 400GB of bandwidth a month. All of the videos and games are hosted on the server and I have never had anyone complain about loading times.
Support:
I have only used the support 4 times over the past 17 months.
The first time was for them to move all of my accounts from my old server over to the new one. This transfer was completed within a few hours of supplying the login details.
The second time was when I wanted them to install ImageMagick on my server. I submitted the ticket at 11:20 and got a reply at 11:55 that it has now been installed. (Yes, I could have installed it myself but what the point in paying for a managed server if you don’t use it
)
The third time was when my server was reaching disk space capacity and I was struggling to find where it was all being used. It ended up being my fault because I incorrectly setup phpthumb. They helped me out with sorting it out.
The final time was another request to install software. I asked them to install FFMPEG and they completed that one within 25 minutes of my submitting the ticket.
Customer Service:
I have only contacted their sales department once while I was a customer and that was to add a WHMCS licence onto my account. Within one hour of submitting the ticket they had sent me and invoice for the licence and then once I paid it I had the licence key in around 30 minutes.
Conclusion:
My 17 months with KnownHost was overall a very pleasant experience. I never once had a single problem with the server itself. I contacted them on several occasions and their replies were always quick and professional.
So I cannot really fault them and am therefore planning to continue to use them in the future.
Thanks for spending the time to read this review. I hope it was helpful. If you have any questions on my experience please feel free to ask.
